Iowaiegian Visitors

Look who came to visit me--yup, Grandma and Grandpa F along with Super Great-Nana! They came from Chicago after visiting Great Uncle Bob. They sure look refreshed. I think they spiffed themselves up before seeing me. As it should be, I demand my loyal subjects look perfect for me.

Here's Great Nana feeding me a delicious meal of beef goo. I think it is a special Polish recipe from the heart of LaSalle, Illinois. Or maybe it was some Gerber junk. Whatever it was, I gobbled it down. Then everyone gathered at the table for dinner and Great Nana started feeding me some of her mashed potatoes from her own plate! That sure was nice of her to share. No one else did that for me. I see who REALLY loves me around here.

Great Nana loves to tell me stories. Here she is telling me how excited she is that Auntie Brandy will soon be a doctor. She loves the fact there will FINALLY be a doctor in the family, we've waited so long! Oh wait, I think she forgot about Auntie Becky and that whole Opthalmologist thing...hmm, too bad I can't talk yet to remind her of that.

Grandpa and I had a great time chillin' out in front of the TV. Every now and then I had to pipe up and let my opinion be known. Otherwise, we sat pretty quietly and just enjoyed each other's company.

Then there's Grandma. She loved taking care of me and actually volunteered to change my diaper, feed me and give me a bath. Wow, what service! I never get those requests from Mommy and Daddy. Grandma, can you live here, please?

Okay, I guess things aren't THAT bad here with Mommy and Daddy. This was the best family photo they were able to get with me. I'm kinda squiggly these days and find having my photo taken to be such a mundane activity. I am more interested in ripping newspaper, pulling on the cat's hair and playing crawl-chase.

The visit from everyone was wonderful. Unfortunately the time went too fast and Mommy and Daddy still make me take my naps so I missed out on lots of fun things. Mommy told me some funny things that Great Nana said. Keep in mind Great Nana is very wiley...she has a very sharp wit. Mommy, Grandma and Great Nana were sitting at the kitchen table enjoying a cup of tea. It was late, everyone was tired. Great Nana looked like she was half asleep, not really listening to the conversation. Grandma started saying something along the lines of, "So, I was thinking..." to which Great Nana promptly replied, "Was THAT the noise I heard?". Mommy started laughing hysterically and Great Nana gave her little grin.

As they were leaving to head to the hotel for the night, Daddy overheard Great Nana saying this to Grandpa: "Hmmm, a two car garage and both cars outside on the driveway. (shakes head here) Ridiculous."

Daddy's favorite Great Nana-ism happened when we weren't present. Last year everyone was able to go home to Iowa except us. All my aunties were playing cards with Great Nana and started razzing her about which grandchild she loved the best. They each asked her who it was, and she said, "I love all you kids the same, but, I think I love Bryant just a little bit more!" After the initial shock (I cannot believe she just said that) everyone fell over laughing. Oh, Great Nana, you have the best sense of humor and we love you for it, plus you are a darn good card player!

Back Alley Brawl

Hey. Notice my mouth is a bit contorted to the side? No, that's not a new look for me, not a new facial gesture. I can't help it. My lip is swollen. I got into my first brawl.

A brawl with the window. I hate to say it, but the window won.

Why is Mommy laughing like a slack-jawed yokel? I guess it's funny when your precious only son bleeds all over your shirt. Gee, nice compassion, Mommy. And you call yourself a nurse.

I must admit, Mommy was pretty nice to me after the incident. She gave me my blankie (which I promptly bled all over) and tried to put ice on my lip. I didn't like that. Then she gave me not only Tylenol but ibuprofen too! Yummy. She also let me play with the forbidden remote control. Daddy came home from work at the end of the incident so he was able to snap these photos.

I am guessing this incident will NEVER happen again, and I will never get any more owies. Too bad, it was fun to be coddled by Mommy and Daddy. So sad.

Climbing Expedition

Yea, I'm bored of this gate. I think I'll try my hand at mountain climbing.
My first challenge: the sofa pillow.
Whoa. This is a tough hill. After lots of huffing and puffing...

I made it over! Whew. That was a good warm up. On to the next challenge...

Mount Daddy!

Hmmm, I think I'll be daring and climb the Black Diamond part of the mountain. A boy's gotta keep up his street cred, you know.

My most difficult climb to date.

Now for the dismount...

planted both feet for a perfect '10'!
