Is That Mozart?

Nope, it's just me. Didn't you know I could play the piano? I have a natural talent for it.

Excuse me, I have to turn the page.

That's right, Mommy, I should have played the C note instead of the B note. Thanks for the tip. Have a great day, everyone!

Iowa: Days 4 and 5

Wednesday: Day three. I have no photos because the day consisted of me sleeping in late and Daddy and Great Nana playing the stakes at church bingo. I guess Great Nana was the big winner--she found one dollar in the church parking lot. What a lucky gal.

Auntie Bonnie and cousin Ellen arrived late on Wednesday after I went to bed for the night. Here I am with Auntie Bonnie and Ellen and my newest cousin who is still "in the oven". He is due out in November. Already Ellen is comforting him: she is patting him through her Mommy's tummy! What a great big sister.

It's been a long time since I last saw Ellen so Thursday morning we thought the best way to catch up was with a community bath.

Ellen was fascinated by my male part, asking 'what's that'...I didn't have an answer. I just know that sometimes water comes out of it and the stream is fun to play in. It's also fun to pee on Mommy and Daddy in my spare time.

I had a fun time watching how well Ellen has mastered the art of squirreliness in the bathtub. This was one of my first experiences in the big tub (Mommy and Daddy were giving me a bath in a storage bin--how embarrassing), so I had a lot to learn.

After a thrilling game of Bathsketball (I barely won, by the way), we decided it was time to exit the bath and move on to other toys, ie: everything around the house we are not supposed to get in to. It sure was fun to catch up with Ellen. I am sure the next time I see her I will be able to run laps around the house with her. It is hard to keep up with her while I am still crawling...she is FAST!

Iowa: Days 2 and 3

Daddy brought Grandma and Grandpa F to the airport very early on 7-9-07. They were enroute to Minneapolis then to Vancouver to begin their voyage to Alaska! I have never been there, but I have heard it is nice. My aunties and uncles along with Mommy and Daddy chipped in to send them on the cruise to celebrate their 40th anniversary. So Mommy, Daddy and I decided to come on down to Iowa and spend some quality time with Great Nana.

While in Council Bluffs, what do the Council Bluffians do? Well, first off, they play cards. Pinochle to be exact. I've heard Omaha has an awesome zoo with lions, tigers, bears and sharks. We didn't have to go far to find a shark--a card shark that is. See Great Nana? She looks innocent enough, but that is her famous "Poker Face" she is donning. She is an excellent card player and has 96 years of experience under her belt. Needless to say, she kicked Daddy's butt in Pinochle.

I told him not to play the cards he did. Maybe next time he will listen to me. Until then, I will continue to play with my shovel.

Next, Great Nana decided to try her hand at snake charming. With me being the snake, of course. She was trying her darndest to get me to stand for her, but I just really didn't feel like it. Sorry, Great Nana. You do make me laugh, though!

On 7-10 we ventured to Omaha to the Henry Doorly Zoo. If you have never been there, it is worth the trip. Great Nana decided to stay home and guard the house, she's had enough of zoos. While there we saw all kinds of cool animals. This Polar bear was lamenting the loss of his natural habitat in the Arctic and decided swimming would help his anxiety. I've heard Polar bears really don't like to swim, so he must have been really depressed.

Next on to the petting zoo. There really weren't that many animals out this day, just the goats. Daddy ventured in there with me and Mommy continued to be a chicken and stayed out and took photos. Something about being a germaphobe. She really needs to get over that.

See that Rhino? No, not the ones in the background, the one on my shirt, silly! Pretty cute, huh?

Lastly, this is the Koi fish pond. The Monkeys were having a fun time trying to catch the food other people were throwing in the pond. See the one in the lower right hand corner? He was hanging by his tail, upside down to catch food. They sure are smart!

Be sure to check back often, I have lots more to post on the blog so I will try to get a post a day for a while here. Hope you enjoy!

Happy Birthday to ME!

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday dear meeeeeeee, happy birthday to me. Yup, I made it to see the big 01. I cannot believe how fast time flies...it seems like only yesterday I was forced to leave my warm cocoon to face the cold lights of the delivery room. Ahhh, those were the days. Anyway, here I am with some of my new presents from Mommy and Daddy. I got some garden tools including a rake, shovel, bucket, wheelbarrow and this cool hat, amongst other things. Once again, Mommy is assuming I will enjoy gardening next year.

You know what they say about assuming, Mommy. Yep, it makes me run away. What did you think I was going to say? Sheesh.
My next present is this cool bowl stacker. A split second after this photo was snapped, I used my long armspan to swipe the tower down to the ground. That was satisfying.

Cake again? Gosh, how many times do I have to show off my amazing cake-eating ability? I mean, I know I'm good, but come on. I think Mommy looks much more excited about the cake than me. Mommy, I think it has wheat in it, you can't have any. Sorry.

Fine, I'll try some if I have to, I guess. I got to eat the cake on the red plate. I hear that only happens on special occasions.

Hmm, cakealicious.

Yuck. What is this brown stuff? I thought it was Grandma's tasty black frosting, but no, I was fooled. Chocolate? Who the heck ordered chocolate? I specifically said no chocolate. Who's the manager around here? I refuse to eat this horrible excuse for a cake. Chocolate. Please.

Yes, I know I'm messy. Do you have to get a photo of EVERYTHING? I've had enough of this first birthday thing. Please, give me a bath. Can't you see I am messy and very embarrased about it?

I fooled you! I actually love being messy and the cake was fun to play with. I don't really like eating chocolate cake, but it is a fun art medium. Overall, my birthday was very enjoyable. I hope to do this again in the near future, maybe, say another year or so? Sounds good to me, let's plan on it. I promise, next year I will be more excited about chocolate cake.

PS: Do you like the new design of the blog? Mommy and Daddy (mostly Daddy) put it together last night. It has a new spot for a poll, so be sure to vote!
